The season is already upon us, and it’s important that we take the time to set ourselves up to provide a safe and memorable experience for our Little Leaguers® this year. To ensure you and your fellow volunteers are ready to go, take a few minutes to go through this checklist of annual Child Protection requirements as a Little League® volunteer:
- Submit Your Background Check Through the JDP/Sports Connect Integration
- Complete Your Abuse Awareness Training
- Read Through the Child Protection Program
- Understand Your State’s Child Abuse Reporting Laws
In addition to the requirements above, leagues must ensure they have adopted a policy that prohibits retaliation against “good faith” reports of child abuse, as well as a policy that limits one-on-one contact with minors without being in an observable and interruptible distance from another adult.
New in 2026 - Additional Training Resources
These and other training courses are available through Little League University (LLU).
Remember, the safety and well-being of all participants in the Little League program continues to be paramount, and it is on all of us to do our part to provide a fun, memorable, and safe experience each year which starts with these simple steps.
